Delighting in God, through Jesus Christ.
Spreading his joy, through the gospel, to all people.
Delighting in God.
We were designed to give God glory. The Westminster Confession answers the question, "What is the chief end of man?" with this simple statement: "To glorify God and enjoy him forever." Glorifying God and enjoying him are connected. Glorifying God means enjoying him. Enjoying God means glorifying him. God is glorified is when his creation is made happy in him.
At Summit we display our amazing God by delighting in him in all we do. Our delight in God demonstrates Jesus’ victory over sin, death and the devil. Our joy-filled lives prove the greatness of Jesus’ grace, mercy and goodness.
“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” - John 15:11
Through Jesus Christ.
God’s grace and mercy only come to us through Jesus. Only his perfect life, substitutionary death, and victorious resurrection can bring us into right relationship with God and give us joy, peace and fulfillment. You can’t know or delight in God apart from Jesus.
At Summit we want everything we say and do to be about him.
“And though you have not seen him, you love him, and though you do not see him now, but believe in him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.” - 1 Peter 1:8-9
Spreading his joy...
If God is our greatest joy, it is natural that we would spread that joy by sharing it with others. No one eats an amazing meal by themselves without wanting to share it with someone else.
At Summit we want to spread the joy of Jesus by loving and serving others in our city, region, and around the globe.
Through the gospel...
The gospel is the power of God for all of life, for both non-Christians and Christians. The good news of the gospel is the message by which we’re saved. The gospel is also the means by which we grow in our salvation. Rehearsing the gospel is how we fuel our delight in God.
At Summit the gospel is central to all we do. In our preaching, singing, giving, and sharing we want to declare the good news of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection for sinners.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” - Romans 1:16
“Now I would remind you brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved...” - 1 Cor. 15:1-2
To all people.
The mission of God’s people is to spread the message of joy through the gospel in our neighborhoods and cities all the way to the remotest parts of the earth. Jesus sends us out as witnesses to the good news his death and resurrection. God’s people have been blessed so they will “be a blessing” (Gen. 12:2).
At Summit we want to spend our lives making others glad in God.
